Apprenticeship in Nursing (April 2025)
🇩🇪 Ausbildung Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann
🇮🇳 Job opening for Indians: Nursing apprenticeship (Ausbildung) including housing. B2-level in German is mandatory. Start: April 2025.
What we offer:
Ausbildung is the German word for apprenticeship. The German system of Ausbildung is quite unique: It combines vocational training with training on-the-job. Apprentices are employed with a company and receive vocational training on a part-time basis. The apprenticeship in nursing also means that you will do internships in other care facilities such as elderly homes, hospitals and psychiatric clinics. Vocational trainings, training on the job as well as the internships are all part of a very structured system. After 3 years of apprenticeship, you will be a professional nurse (in German: Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann).
We offer one spot for an apprentice at our Haus der Pflege here in Germany.
Additionally we offer:
- Housing in a shared flat
- 1340,69 € / monthly salary (during the first year of apprenticeship, more info here )
- Health insurance
- Other benefits for regular employees
Who we are
We are the „Haus der Pflege“ which directly translates to „home of care“. We are a private home for elderly people located in Germany in the state of Bayaria, in a small town called Kitzingen. In our house we offer care for 78 elderly people. Since we are specialized in dementia, many of our clients suffer from dementia including the behavioral changes caused by such a diagnosis.
Our house is family owned. It was founded in 1966 by Eva Witt and has been managed by Helmut Witt since 2001. His daughter and wife are also contributing to the success of the house. You will be working in a safe environment in a private company where we take care of you individually. You will not be “just a number”.
You can check out our Facebook and Instagram for a first impression on our house.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an highly-skilled apprentice from India with good German language skills (B2-level) who is passionate about nursing.
You should be interested to work in our house as a professional nurse after finishing the apprenticeship.
Why do we look for an Indian apprentice?
In the past we have successfully recruited certified nurses from India, Kerala via an agency. As of October 2024, we employ four Indian colleagues and therefore would like to welcome YOU to the team 😊.
The Truth
This is not a job just to get to Germany!
Nursing requires that you actually are passionate with people, you communicate in German, you undertake medical treatments and you are involved in very intimate moments when you wash patients or help them on the toilet. If you are not the person to do this, then do not apply! You will not be happy at work; it is not worth it.
Also, a nurse in Germany is typically involved in basic care (washing, toilet, dressing). Although this will change gradually with a new law (called PeBeM), you are expected to do this in your daily work. Later, when you are a professional nurse, you will be expected to communicate with doctors, colleagues and patients including their families fluently and you MUST be confident to speak in German.
We do not want to terrify you here but be very transparent about this occupation and the requirements you have to face.
Location and housing:
Housing will be provided in the adjacent building so you can reach work within 3 minutes. You share an apartment but have your own room. Apartment and room are equipped with basic furniture. It is a very safe and quite neighbourhood.
Please note: We are located in the countryside. Although we are part of the town Kitzingen, we are located in a small village and public transport is scarce. The train station is an approx. 45 min walk and the next supermarket requires about 15 min walk. The next bigger cities are Würzburg and Nürnberg.
Requirements for applicants:
- B2- Level in German
- Completed 9 years of school in India (certified by the German labor office, we help with the application)
- Background in nursing or previous internships are an advantage
- certificate of good conduct in Germany (called “Führungszeugnis”, once you get to Germany)
Please note
The apprenticeship in Nursing is demanding and requires regular studies and passion. Additionally, vocational school as well as training on the jobs requires you to speak in German on a regular basis. You must be willing to further study German in order to manage your studies and the apprenticeship.
Although the German system of Ausbildung offers you a salary from the beginning, it is not comparable to a regular German salary and you will be required to pay for housing (approx. 450 Euro / month) as well. This means that you have to live on a shoestring for the first three years.
However, if you can overcome this hardship then you will be a very demanded and highly skilled and well-paid worker in Germany.
Step by step to Germany
- First you need to go through our application process (MS Teams interview)
- With an apprenticeship contract (Ausbildungsvertrag) and housing contract (Mietvertrag) you can arrange an appointment in one of the German consulates in India.
- Please note, the requiement for a nursing appreticeship in Germany is that you have completed 9 years of school and this was confirmed by a German authority (we help with the process)
- Pick-up visa
- You book (and pay) for a flight to Frankfurt before April 1st, 2025
- We pick you up at Frankfurt Airport 😊
